Budget bill SB 113 (Economic Relief – COVID 19 Pandemic) passed the Assembly 68-0.

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblywoman Luz Rivas (D-San Fernando Valley), Chair of the Assembly Committee on Natural Resources, introduced Assembly Bill (AB) 1690 at a virtual press conference alongside the bill’s joint authors, Assemblymembers Mark Stone (D-Monterey Bay) and Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Irvine), and its sponsor, the National Stewardship Action Council. AB 1690 prohibits the sale of single-use vapes and tobacco filters found in cigarettes and cigars to result in the use of less wasteful alternatives.
SACRAMENTO – On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, as Chair of the Assembly’s Select Committee on the Orange County Oil Spill, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris is convening a Joint Oversight Hearing with the Assembly Natural Resources Committee and Assembly Budget Subcommittee No. 3 on Climate Crisis, Resources, Energy, and Transportation. Legislators will explore the past and present efforts to decommission offshore oil production off the coast of California and explore legislative proposals.

Atkins (D-San Diego), and other caucus members announced a united effort today to strengthen and expand access to abortion and ensure that California is a national beacon for reproductive freedom.

“The Governor’s budget proposal comes as we enter the third year of the pandemic. This is a critical juncture for California— we must continue to combat the COVID-19 crisis and make the investments that will enable us to forge a swift, robust and equitable recovery.
OAKLAND – California Attorney General Rob Bonta today agreed not to object to a settlement between Providence St. Joseph Health (Providence) and Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian (Hoag) that will lead to the disaffiliation of the two hospital systems. The settlement will allow Hoag to become an independent entity, and as part of the agreement, Hoag has committed to expand reproductive health services in Orange County. The Attorney General’s Office was not a party to the settlement.
