Sacramento, CAAssemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Irvine) and Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho and Mothers Against Drunk Driving held a press conference with a DUI crash survivor, calling on Asm. Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) and the Assembly Public Safety Committee, to save lives by passing AB 2210 – requiring all DUI offenders to use interlock ignition devices (i.e. breathalyzers or IID’s).

Assemblywoman Petrie-Norris Joins Child Marriage Survivors to Discuss “The End Child Marriage Act”

Sacramento, CA - Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Irvine) and child marriage survivors held a press conference to highlight Assembly Bill 2924, landmark legislation that will end child marriage in California. In 2021, an estimated 8,700 children were married in California.  If not for loopholes in California marriage law, the incidents would be classified as sex crimes.

Assemblymember Petrie-Norris and Survivors Announce Bill to Fully End State-Sanctioned Child Marriage in California

Sacramento, CA — Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Irvine) introduced AB 2924, a bill to finally end the gruesome act of state-sanctioned child marriage in California. In 2021 alone, it is estimated that more than 8,700 children are estimated to have been married in California. The legislation is sponsored by Unchained At Last, a survivor-led nonprofit organization committed to ending forced and child marriage in the United States.
