Huntington Beach- Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris has recognized Plants By Yours Truly and BYO as the Local Business Spotlight for June. These businesses operate in collaboration with one another to offer quality products that promote personal, mental and environmental wellbeing. Plants By Yours Truly owner, Melissa Murillo, provides a variety of services including plant care, interior plant design, and plant design for events while championing mental health awareness.

SACRAMENTO—The California Joint Legislative Audit Committee has voted 12-0 to approve a performance audit of the California Department of Technology’s (CDT) responsibilities regarding oversight of state information technology (IT) procurements, oversight, and security for the State of California. While the State Auditor has audited portions of IT systems under the CDT umbrella, and routinely checks up on particularly troubled projects like FI$CAL, the Legislature needs a more comprehensive view of the systems that undergird California’s departments.

On Saturday, June 18^th, a group of 78 volunteers joined Orange County Coastkeeper Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris, and Senator Dave Min for a trash cleanup at the Santa Ana-Delhi channel in Costa Mesa. In just two hours, the group removed over 2,500 pounds of debris from the waterway, preventing it from impacting Upper Newport Bay. This astounding number is the most trash picked up at a single cleanup in OC Coastkeeper’s 23-year history. Volunteers snagged several large items, such as musical instruments, rugs, bike tires, blankets, and a stethoscope.

SACRAMENTO – Today, California State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) announced the formation of the Select Committee on Gasoline Supply and Pricing, to investigate rising gasoline prices in California. This select committee will be chaired by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D- Thousand Oaks).

COSTA MESA, CA – On Friday June 3, Assembly Member Cottie Petrie-Norris presented a $2.5 million check to City officials to rebuild Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue’s Station 4 and training tower into a state-of-the-art Regional Training Facility.

IRVINE—Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris has announced hiring Michael Tou to serve as District Director. In this role, Michael will lead the district team on community outreach, constituent services, and policy issues for the cities of Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Irvine, Laguna Woods and Laguna Beach.

Laguna Beach- French Buckets has been honored by Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris as the Local Business Spotlight for May. It is a woman-owned, family operated florist shop in the heart of Laguna Beach, where locals always stop by to purchase some beautiful arrangements, and artisan goods.

As drivers in Southern California continue to pay near $6 per gallon of gas, state Democrats continue to debate the best way to get relief to as many people as possible. 

"The fights in California are fights between Democrats," said Loyola Law Professor Jessica Levinson. "We're seeing now the fault lines between the governor and the legislature."

According to Triple AAA, a gallon of regular gas in Los Angeles County costs an average of $5.85 a gallon compared to just over $4 a gallon a year ago. 

On Thursday, April 21, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris along with Girls Inc. co-hosted an event where six women were recognized for their distinguished service and leadership within our communities. Among them was Dr. Ginger Osborne, Laguna Beach.

The event was held at Marina Park Community and Sailing Center Event Room in Newport Beach. In addition to Petrie-Norris, Laguna Beach Mayor Sue Kempf was in attendance.
