SACRAMENTO – Today, California State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) announced the formation of the Select Committee on Gasoline Supply and Pricing, to investigate rising gasoline prices in California. This select committee will be chaired by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D- Thousand Oaks).
“Today I announced the formation of the Select Committee on Gasoline Supply and Pricing, to be chaired by Assemblymember Irwin,” said Speaker Rendon. “I look forward to the committee’s findings on why Californians are facing record-high prices at the pump, and hearing their recommendations on how to ease that burden.”
“As Chair of this new select committee, I am entering with an open mind and commitment to approach this issue with an appreciation of the nuance, but also the urgency of the issue,” said Assemblymember Irwin. “This committee will follow the data and find answers and long term solutions so that we no longer look to the future with distress, but with promise.”
“Oil companies aren’t struggling, but families certainly are,” said Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris. “I am pleased to announce that I have been appointed to the Select Committee on Gasoline Supply and Pricing, which is focused on getting to the bottom of these prices and provide relief, now and into the future.”
