COSTA MESA – As chair of the California State Assembly Select Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris convened local small business owners for a discussion on how to best cut red tape, the challenges businesses face and ways government can make the path forward smoother. Since the pandemic, Assemblywoman Petrie-Norris has secured $85 million in state funding for 7,154 entrepreneurs in Irvine, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach and Laguna Woods.

COSTA MESA — Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris partnered with Share Our Selves for a three-day Thanksgiving food distribution for families in need in Orange County. Registration for the distribution filled up within a week, however, no one will be turned away. The food distribution is ongoing until end of day Wednesday.

IRVINE — In honor of Veterans Day, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris hosted the fourth annual Veterans of the Year ceremony, recognizing six veterans for their outstanding military service and contributions to fellow veterans and the broader community.

IRVINE— Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris honored Doing Good Works for the monthly business spotlight. Doing Good Works, is a small business that does things differently. They hire, train and mentor foster youth. This model is incredibly unique and full of impact as half of foster youth ending up homeless and 4 out of 5 incarcerated Californians were in the foster system.   

LAGUNA BEACH - On Wednesday, October 26, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris presented the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach (BGCLB) with $400,000 in one-time funding as part of the 2022-2023 state budget, to renovate the play yard to address physical, socio-emotional, and academic well-being with more play and learning for local youth.

IRVINE - On Tuesday, October 25, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris presented City of Irvine officials with $2.8 million, in one-time funding as part of the 2022-23 budget, to renovate the City’s playground at Sweet Shade Neighborhood Park to a universal playground that will meet the needs of all residents regardless of ability.

IRVINE — Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris honored Manassero Farms on the occasion of their 100-year anniversary of family farming in Orange County. Dan Manassero, owner of Manassero Farms, is part of a third generation farming family. His grandfather, James, started farming in Yorba Linda, CA in 1922.

IRVINE - Today, Assemblywoman Petrie-Norris met with President Joseph R. Biden and discussed key issues impacting the state of California and the world. The Assemblywoman urged the President to take urgent action to support the women and people of Iran facing a hostile regime. Specifically, she recognized the mobilization of Iranian Americans in Orange County and their calls to amplify the voices of those calling for change following the brutal killing of Mahsa (Jhina) Amini. 

On Wednesday, October 12, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris hosted the Senior Scam Stopper Seminar at the Costa Mesa Senior Center. The event was attended by 60 seniors who learned how to protect themselves from fraud and scams concerning home improvement, auto repair, insurance, telemarketing and real estate.

COSTA MESA — Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris honored Neat Coffee in Costa Mesa for the monthly business spotlight. Ally Garvin, owner of Neat Coffee, developed a passion for coffee after staying in Uganda with her husband. Upon her return, Ally worked as a barista for a number of years before venturing out and opening her own business.
