08.20.21 Orange County receives $7 million from state to fund mental health initiatives

Orange County officials announced Friday $7 million in state funding has been secured to support county mental health initiatives — namely, Be Well OC, which provides mental health support to residents and runs the first mental health and wellness campus countywide.

A group of state and local officials gathered at the Be Well OC mental health services hub in Orange on Friday, Aug. 19, to applaud the on-site programs that began operating in January and celebrate an infusion of $5 million in state funds to help build a second campus.

SACRAMENTO – On Wednesday, August 18, 2021, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris, Chair of the Select Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship (SB&E) and Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes, Chair of the Committee on Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy (JEDE) will convene a joint informational hearing focused on examining the needs of women- and minority-owned small businesses.

Information and recommendations received during the hearing will provide a foundation for committee members to evaluate state programs and legislative proposals in the upcoming Legislative Session.
