SACRAMENTO – On Wednesday, August 18, 2021, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris, Chair of the Select Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship (SB&E) and Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes, Chair of the Committee on Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy (JEDE) will convene a joint informational hearing focused on examining the needs of women- and minority-owned small businesses.

Information and recommendations received during the hearing will provide a foundation for committee members to evaluate state programs and legislative proposals in the upcoming Legislative Session.

IRVINE – Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris has named five Nonprofits of Distinction for 2021: Power of One Foundation (Costa Mesa), Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center (Huntington Beach), Miracles for Kids (Irvine), Age Well (Laguna Woods) and Project Self Sufficiency (Newport Beach).
Nonprofit of Distinction is an annual recognition ceremony held locally following California Nonprofits Day in June. Community members are invited to nominate nonprofit organizations that have shown extraordinary work, service and compassion in our communities.

RELEASE: Legislation Expanded to Protect Domestic Violence Survivors from Ghost Guns
SACRAMENTO – Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris has expanded legislation to close a critical loophole in Gun Violence Restraining Orders (GVROs) to also cover Domestic Violence Restraining Orders (DVROs). AB 1057 will allow for ghost guns to be seized when an individual is deemed to be an extreme risk to themselves or others, or if a person has perpetrated abuse or threats of abuse.
