Orange County Cities Briefed on Federal Funding Opportunities Related to Inflation Reduction Act

For immediate release:

Orange County – Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Irvine) co-hosted a briefing with U.S. Senator Alex Padilla’s (D-Calif.) office for the Orange County delegation of Assembly Members, Senators, as well as local Mayors and City Managers on upcoming grant opportunities for transportation and infrastructure projects utilizing funding from the Inflation Reduction Act.

The bi-partisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act will make increased funding available for infrastructure projects over the next half-decade. However, many of the grant programs are highly competitive. It is therefore vital that local governments understand the metrics used by federal agencies and obtain support from local elected leaders.

“The Inflation Reduction Act offers historic funding opportunities aimed at ensuring America’s communities and economy are ready for and resilient to climate change,” said Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Irvine). “Ensuring that our local Orange County governments are informed and have the resources necessary to obtain these grants to invest in our local infrastructure is one of my top priorities.”

“I was proud to help pass historic infrastructure and climate investments that will make significant federal funding available for California communities,” said U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.). “As funds become available, I’m working alongside our local leaders to ensure that California receives its fair share to improve our infrastructure and protect our environment for future generations. Thank you to Assemblywoman Petrie-Norris for proactively organizing this briefing with my office to help communities across Orange County take advantage of the opportunities available through these historic bills.”
