Wishing you a Happy New Year!

__SALUTATION__

With the new year only a few days away, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on 2021. Every year comes with its own set of highs and lows and this year was no exception.

With the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, we were brought a renewed sense of hope. We saw our small businesses re-open and our kids get back in the classroom. We were reunited with loved ones and we were able to share the joys of life with family and friends.

Among the many blessings of this year, we also faced immense challenges as the COVID-19 Pandemic continued on and new variants emerged. I know that this isn’t what we expected for 2021, but as a community, we have shown tremendous strength in working together to slow down the spread. I want to give a special thank you to our frontline healthcare workers and first responders who continue to work day in and day out, risking their own lives to save others.

As we look to the new year, hope perseveres. The past two years have given us the tools to stay safe – knowledge about this disease, access to supplies, tests and vaccines which have already saved more than 1 million lives in the past year. I know it may not always feel like the progress is enough but we will get to the end of this pandemic and we will get there together.

My team and I are continuing to work on your behalf at the Capitol and here locally, and I am so proud of what we have been able to accomplish. In the district, we’ve helped more than 1,000 constituents access much-needed unemployment benefits, co-hosted countless vaccine clinics and started a monthly spotlight program highlighting various small businesses throughout our district. In Sacramento, I’ve authored legislation to provide tax breaks and direct relief for California businesses impacted by the pandemic, ensure resources are available for domestic violence survivors and close dangerous loopholes in California’s gun safety laws. Year in Review

Of course, none of this would have been possible without my wonderful team, and the ongoing support of local organizations and community members like you. We look forward to continuing to develop our relationships and building new partnerships in 2022.

Despite the challenges we continue to face, I am hopeful for the year ahead. Our community has shown that even in the darkest of times, we are able to persevere and come together in solidarity. I know that we are equipped to make the final push and emerge from the pandemic once and for all.

From my family to yours, best wishes for a safe, healthy and very happy new year.

With gratitude,
