Wishing You a Happy New Year!
Dear Neighbor:
I’m writing to you from my desk in the Capitol, where I am pushing hard for urgent action to address major hurdles related to vaccine supply, funding and staffing. I’d like to share a few updates:
PRE-REGISTER TO GET A VACCINE
You can now sign-up for Orange County’s official vaccine app. Once you are registered, you will receive updates, be alerted when it’s your turn, and be able to make a vaccine appointment. You can learn more about vaccine distribution plans on the County website.
DO YOU HAVE A VACCINE QUESTION?
I’ve asked Dr. Clayton Chau, Director of the Orange County Health Care Agency to answer your questions about how and when you can get the vaccine. Reply to this email with your questions, and join us for a virtual Vaccine Town Hall next Thursday, January 21st:
If you can’t join us at 3:00pm, the replay will be immediately available for playback any time.
The start of the new year marks the beginning of another Legislative session for the California State Legislature.
This year I am focused on:
- COVID-19 Response: rebuilding our communities back stronger than ever.
- Economic Recovery: creating good jobs and opportunities for all.
- The Environment: protecting the California coast from sea level rise.
- Government Oversight: ensuring your taxpayer dollars are used wisely.
Specifically, I have already introduced:
- AB 63 - Restoring Our California Coast, which will cut the green tape and allow for the restoration of marine life along California’s Coast.
- AB 77 - Jarrod’s Law, which will raise standards and protect patients in the substance abuse treatment industry.
- AB 110 - Preventing Prisoner Unemployment Benefit Fraud, which will require the Employment Development Department (EDD) to cross-check incarceration records and prevent fraud.
Additionally, I am working closely with my colleagues and am co-authoring:
- AB 10 - Safe Reopening of Schools, which will return students to classroom-based learning and ensure quality education for all students.
- AB 14 – Internet for All Act, which will close the digital divide and ensure that all California kids have the opportunity to succeed regardless socioeconomic status.
- SB 74 - Keep California Working Act, which will invest the State’s budget surplus directly into main street in order to keep businesses open and retain jobs for those on the brink after the devastation of this pandemic.
As your Assemblywoman, I am committed to advancing critical legislative priorities on your behalf. We would love to hear from you, contact me with issues or questions any time.
Finally, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past year and share our 2020 year-in-review digital booklet. Check it out here:
Though there is still a long road ahead, with the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine underway, there is light at the end of the tunnel. And for that I am truly grateful.
