Wildfires and Blackouts - Tools You Can Use
Dear Neighbors:
As power outage warnings continue to be issued across the state, I wanted to reach out and provide the latest resources on how to stay informed and prepared.
The State of California has launched RESPONSE.CA.GOV to help Californians affected by wildfires and shutoffs. Please visit this website to get the information and resources you need during this very challenging time for our state. Please visit the site regarding:
- Latest updates on potential power shutdowns and road closures in your area
- Information on current wildfires
- Evacuation locations to stay safe during wildfires and power shutdowns
I absolutely understand and recognize the frustrations and concerns around these potential shut-offs, and please know my office continues to monitor the situation on a daily basis. Here are additional resources you may find useful for our area:
- Alert OC – Sign Up for Emergency Alerts
- Ready OC – provides local tips on how to stay alert and prepared
- Southern California Edison (SCE) – Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) Page
- As SCE evaluates wind conditions and fire threats they update their website with the zones under-consideration for potential electricity shutoffs
- SCE – Sign Up for Emergency Alerts
- If you haven’t done so already, please also update your contact information to ensure you’ll receive notifications for impending shut-offs. SCE is required to issue alerts at least two days ahead of time.
- For those who use medical equipment, you can check your eligibility with SCE’s Medical Baseline program. The program can reduce the cost of utility bills and provide advance notice of PSPS events.
As your State Representative, I am here to help. If you have any questions about state emergency preparedness or encounter any problems with a state agency, do not hesitate to contact my District Office at (949) 251-0074.
