Tax filing deadlines extended to Oct. 16

California is extending the tax filing deadline for residents impacted by the winter storms to October 16, 2023 – aligning with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Orange County taxpayers qualify for an extension to file individual and business tax returns and make certain tax payments.

Free Tax Preparation Services

If your household has earned less than $60,000, filing your taxes can be FREE and easy through OC Free Tax Prep, an initiative of Orange County United Way. To learn more about free tax preparation services and schedule an in-person appointment, call (888) 434-8248 or visit www.ocfreetaxprep.com. Free in-person and online tax preparation services will be available only through early May.

CalEITC & Young Child Tax Credit

The California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) offers support for low-income, working Californians. You may be eligible for up to $3,417 cash back or a reduction of the tax you owe. 

If you qualify for CalEITC, you could be eligible for the Young Child Tax Credit which provides up to $1,083 cash back if you had a child under the age of 6 at the end of the tax year.
