Pandemic Blues...? Join us for a Virtual Pet Adoption Event
Dear Neighbor:
The impacts of COVID-19 have been felt across Orange County and our state across every sector. Some have experienced enormous loss, and many of us feel a lot of stress as we work to flatten the curve.
I’ve been focused on the heavy issues of increasing testing capacity and boosting our economy, and when Ashlee Sprague from Priceless Pets in Costa Mesa shared with me the issues they’ve been facing during the pandemic, I wanted to reach out to all of you to join us for a virtual event to learn how we can support local animal rescues. My rescue dog Flounder has provided much-needed stress relief for me and my family, and I hope you’ll join us to meet some furry members of our community.
Some of the questions we’ll be covering include:
- How we can best support animal rescues right now?
- How we can help foster and adopt while focused on physical distancing?
- What are best practices for caring for our furry family members during the pandemic?
Ashlee will also be sharing some of the residents at Priceless Pets, who are available for adoption!

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
Do you know of someone in our cities, who has gone above and beyond? Or someone who's working on a project (like sewing masks!) which is helping our community during this very critical time? Let us know! You can fill out the form here.
We are spotlighting community heroes on social media platforms and my website. Help us recognize them, and we'll reach out to them for an interview to be shared! Here’s the latest, watch it here:
Local Irvine high school student Nithin Parthasarathy is the founder of Zero Waste Initiative.
Nithin was inspired to address food insecurity after a trip to a local store helped him realized many stores in our community throw away surplus food at the end of the day.
Since starting the Zero Waste Initiative, Nithin and his team have donated more than $23,000 in food to local organizations including Families Forward, Human Options, the UCI Food Pantry.
He is looking for volunteers who can help - especially as the COVID19 pandemic continues to impact our region - and encourages all interested volunteers to reach out via their website.
OFFICE HOURS (ON ZOOM!)
My office is always looking for new ways to connect with constituents and stay accessible.
Now more than ever, my office is doing everything we can to provide assistance. We've found a few creative ways to do so, including hosting virtual office hours where constituents can speak privately with staff via Zoom. Office hours will be held every Monday, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, visit my RSVP form if you'd like to sign up.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office if you have any questions or concerns.
Stay safe, stay healthy, stay strong and we'll continue to get through this pandemic together.
