Nominate the Superwoman in Your Life! Nominations for Woman of the Year!

It is my pleasure to announce that my office is now accepting nominations for our Assembly District’s Woman of the Year Award. Every March, in celebration of Women’s History Month, we honor outstanding women from our district for their service and leadership within their communities.

I invite you to nominate a woman who has made a significant or meaningful difference this past year, or throughout her lifetime. You can nominate a woman from all industries and fields and we will also be recognizing inspiring women who live or work in one of our district's six cities; Irvine, Costa Mesa, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach to be represented as the woman of distinction for that specific city. I will host an event honoring the Woman of the Year and six Women of Distinction in March, and I hope you will take a few moments to nominate an outstanding woman by February 8th, 2022.

Nominate An Outstanding Woman

Our 2021 Woman of the Year was Dr. Barbara Finlayson-Pitts, who is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Irvine, UCI Distinguished Professor and Director of AirUCI. Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris also named Laura Suk (Costa Mesa), Lynne Suzanski (Huntington Beach), Carol Choi (Irvine), Dawn Price (Laguna Beach), Margaret Pearlman (Laguna Woods), and Peggy Fort (Newport Beach) as our Assembly District’s 2021 Women of Distinction (VIDEO). In 2020, our Woman of the Year was Irvine Valley College’s Nancy Montgomery, who has proudly built a support network for veterans at IVC and in our local community, as she continues to challenge policymakers and local leaders to better support our troops. The First Woman of the Year that I had the honor of recognizing in 2019 was former Irvine Mayor Beth Krom, who was recognized for her civic engagement and local leadership, particularly around issues of social justice.

I look forward to receiving your nominations and hearing about all the amazing women who help make our district such an outstanding place to live. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or my team if you have any questions or are in need of assistance with state-related issues.
