Emergency Preparedness

After another year of devastating wildfires, we are reminded that natural disasters are always a threat. Whether it be a wildfire, earthquake, or another emergency, we are all made safer when we have a plan.

I want to make sure that you and your loved ones are not caught off-guard in the event of an emergency. Which is why I have partnered with the Orange County Fire Authority to hold an Emergency Preparedness Workshop where local first responders will review everything you need to know to prepare for a disaster.

Please reply to this email with any questions you have so we can answer them during the workshop. Join us virtually on Tuesday, December 14, at 3:30 pm or at one of our in-person workshops later this Winter.

In this year’s state budget, I advocated for $14.3 million to support fighting wildfires in Orange County. Additionally I was able to secure $2.5 million for a new Regional Fire and Rescue Facility in the City of Costa Mesa and $1 million for fire prevention in Bommer Canyon in the City of Irvine. On the ocean front, I supported $500 million to fund mitigation efforts to protect the California coast from sea-level rise. My bill, AB 65, ensures these funds will be prioritized for the use of green, natural infrastructure that will protect us from rising seas without harming habitats. Much is being done to better prepare our state and I hope you’ll join us to learn how to protect your family.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or my team if you have any questions or are in need of assistance with state-related issues.
