Emergency Preparedness

After another year of devastating wildfires, we are reminded that natural disasters are always a threat. Whether it be a wildfire, earthquake, or another emergency, we are all made safer when we have a plan.

I want to make sure that you and your loved ones are not caught off-guard in the event of an emergency. Which is why I have partnered with the Orange County Fire Authority to hold an Emergency Preparedness Workshop where local first responders will review everything you need to know to prepare for a disaster.

In this year’s state budget, I advocated for $14.3 million to support fighting wildfires in Orange County. Additionally I was able to secure $2.5 million for a new Regional Fire and Rescue Facility in the City of Costa Mesa and $1 million for fire prevention in Bommer Canyon in the City of Irvine. On the ocean front, I supported $500 million to fund mitigation efforts to protect the California coast from sea-level rise. My bill, AB 65, ensures these funds will be prioritized for the use of green, natural infrastructure that will protect us from rising seas without harming habitats.
