Beach Cleanup

Next Saturday, I hope you can join me and our partner, Orange County Coastkeeper, for a beach cleanup day at Huntington State Park Beach! Together we can work to prevent hundreds of pounds of plastic and trash from ending up in our beautiful coastal waters. The cleanup runs from 9 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 11th at Lifeguard Tower 14.

The recent Orange County Oil Spill reminded us how fragile our marine ecosystems are and demonstrated the impact we all make on our environment. As chair of the California State Assembly Select Committee on the Orange County Oil Spill, I am dedicated to making sure we hold the responsible parties accountable for this disaster. About two months after a damaged pipeline leaked 25,000 gallons of oil into the ocean off Huntington Beach, most of the cleanup along the Orange County coastline is nearly done. Meanwhile, let's all take time to do our part in doing the most to protect our coast! Invite your friends and family to come help us make sure that we're able to enjoy these beaches for generations to come. Parking is free for the first 30 minutes, RSVP online for more information. As always contact our office if you have any questions.
