OC Health Updates | Orange County-related updates | County of Orange Services Impacted by COVID-19
CURRENT STATUS: 5/18: The State of California Health Order Remains in Effect in Orange County
The County continues to recommend the public wear face masks, along with employees who interface with the public. These recommendations might vary from city to city in terms of requirements.
OC Health also has downloadable resources for the community, including fliers and guidance
- May 18th: Today, the county announced the reopened limited parking at County-operated beaches.
- April 27-29th: Please see the latest updates from the OC Health website around cases. The OC Board has also released general guidance on reopening, but this does NOT supersede state guidance.
- April 21st: The OC Health Department announced a new testing network for those with COVID-symptoms. There will be no out of pocket costs, but insurance will be billed.
- April 17th: Call center with extended hours – 8-8 during week, 8-5 on weekends is now available for seniors. Senior meal deliveries continue to operate and has expanded. For additional resources, call: 833 426-6411 (option 5) for the office on aging for assistance

- The Agency confirmed Orange County has a total of 464 (includes deaths) confirmed/presumptive cases with confirmed community spread and 4 deaths. 5,522 people have been tested. The Orange County Public Health Lab has kits available to test 989 specimens.

All 25 hospitals with Emergency Departments are operational, hospital beds are filled to 63% capacity.
- The Agency has also confirmed that due to the activation of the national guard, cold weather shelters have been moved. The Fullerton shelter is at the Independence Park Gym, 801 W. Valencia, Dr. The Santa Ana shelter, is at the Salvation Army, 2603 W. First St.
- The Agency also offered mental health guidance.
- On March 27th, OC Health confirmed they will be providing city-by-city data
- On March 25th, OC Health is also extending hours for their call centers, to meet the needs of the community.
- On March 24th, the OC Health Agency is reporting its first death from COVID-19.
Please note: OC Health is now also changing its communications for residents, including:
- Made it easier for residents to sign up to receive text message updates related to COVID-19. in Orange County, California. To opt-in for this service, text OCCOVID19 to 888777.
- OC Health is also closing all county parks effective as of March 25th.
Closures include:
· Parking lots at all County beaches, regional parks and wilderness parks
· Parking spaces at all County trail heads
· Pedestrian access points at Thousand Steps, Table Rock, West, Camel Point, and Treasure Island beaches
· Restrooms, playgrounds, exercise equipment, and shelters at all County parks and beaches
Passive walk-through pedestrian, cycling and equestrian activity is permitted.
OC Health is also continuing to update statistics around the COVID-19 on a daily basis.
