OC Register: Construction Starts on Be Well OC Mental and Behavioral Health Services Hub in Irvine

Orange, CA. October 17, 2023 – The new center was made possible with funding from county, state and federal leaders. The OC Board of Supervisors approved $40 million toward the project, and an additional $15 million was provided by CalOptima Health. A $37.6 million grant came from the state’s Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program, $12 million in state funding was secured by Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris and $2 million in federal funding was secured by Congressman Lou Correa.

Volunteers Harvest Over 7,000 Pounds of Fresh Produce at Harvest Solutions Farm during Hunger Action Month Event

IRVINE – On Saturday, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D—Irvine) and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County hosted a Harvest Solutions Farm Volunteer Event in Irvine to help harvest seasonal produce so that Orange County residents have consistent access to nutritious food. Volunteers harvested over 7,000 pounds of bell peppers that will be distributed in food boxes by Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County to individual and families served by the food bank and local pantries.

Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris Advances Legislation to Combat Online Fentanyl Sales to Governor’s Desk

SACRAMENTO – On Monday, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Irvine) advanced Assembly Bill 1027, a measure that will strengthen California’s efforts to combat online illicit drug sales, to the Governor’s desk. AB 1027 will assist law enforcement in their investigations by requiring social media companies to retain data associated with the sale and distribution of illicit drugs on their platforms. The bill has received bipartisan support in both houses of the state legislature and will be sent to Governor Newsom for consideration.
