RELEASE: Bill to Help Seniors Remain in their Homes Receives Unanimous Support - Changes Will Enhance Service Delivery and Streamline PACE Programs

SACRAMENTO – Assemblywoman Petrie-Norris (D-Laguna Beach) is authoring Assembly Bill 1128 which will help more seniors remain in their homes and in our communities, by streamlining the licensing for the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) facilities. Today, AB 1128 passed on a bipartisan vote in the Senate Health Committee.

RELEASE: Civic and Voter Empowerment Act for All Public Colleges and Universities - Bill Advances to Enhance Student Voter Engagement

SACRAMENTO – In an effort to engage and empower a new generation of voters, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Laguna Beach) is carrying Assembly Bill 963, the Student Civic and Voter Empowerment Act. After passing the Assembly floor 63-7-10, the bill passed 4-1 in Senate Elections and Constitutional Amendments Committee today, July 2, 2019.

RELEASE: Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris Announces State Budget Funding Secured for Coastal Orange County

SACRAMENTO – Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris released the following statement following Governor Gavin Newsom’s signing of AB 74, the 2019-20 budget bill:

RELEASE: AB 526 Passes Senate Health Committee - Increasing Medi-Cal and WIC Enrollment for Vulnerable Women, Infants, and Children

SACRAMENTO — To ensure that infants, children and pregnant women receive critical healthcare and food assistance, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris is authoring AB 526, which creates a pathway for easier enrollment when kids and pregnant moms qualify for both Medi-Cal and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children program (WIC). This bill was approved by the Senate Health Committee today, June 26, 2019, on a 8-0 vote. In May, AB 526 received strong bipartisan support on the Assembly Floor, passing with a 78-0 vote.

RELEASE: Bill to Expand Access to Birth Control Moves Forward

SACRAMENTO – Californians are one step closer to increased birth control access. Assembly Bill 1264, authored by Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Laguna Beach), would allow Californians to access birth control prescriptions through a phone app by clarifying prescribing telehealth law related to appropriate prior examination. After passing the Assembly floor 64-0-16, the bill passed on a bipartisan vote of 8-0-1 in Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee today, June 17, 2019.

ADVISORY: OVERSIGHT HEARING ON FI$CAL IMPLEMENTATION - Wednesday

SACRAMENTO – On Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in State Capitol Room 437, Assemblymembers Cottie Petrie-Norris and Phil Ting are convening an oversight hearing on the implementation of Financial Information System for California, (FI$CAL). The hearing will be viewable via livestream on the Assembly website: https://assembly.ca.gov/todaysevents. Assemblymembers Petrie-Norris and Ting will be available outside the committee room at 10:15 a.m. to answer Capitol Press Corps questions.

Statement from Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris on 2019-20 Budget Bill

SACRAMENTO — Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Laguna Beach), Chair of the Accountability & Administrative Review Committee, released the following statement after voting for Assembly Bill 74, the 2019-20 state budget bill passed today, June 13, 2019. 

“I am pleased with the balance in the 2019-2020 budget. With careful attention to state and local issues, we have crafted a budget that will strengthen state reserves, enhance budget resiliency and create economic opportunity to fuel California’s long-term growth.

RELEASE: Orange County Poised to End Veteran Homelessness - $2.9 Million Secured in 2019-20 Budget

IRVINE–Today, June 12, 2019, in a historic milestone in Orange County’s commitment to end homelessness, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris presented a check for $2.9 million to the Orange County United Way to fund housing for Orange County’s veterans experiencing homelessness. Governor Gavin Newsom approved the one-time funding as part of the 2019-20 California State Budget.
