AB 110 Enables EDD to Prevent Fraudsters from Stealing Benefits

SACRAMENTO – With broad support from law enforcement and prosecutors, legislation preventing fraudulent unemployment claims has passed out of the Assembly’s Consumer Privacy and Protection Committee. AB 110, authored by Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris, will require the Employment Development Department (EDD) to cross-check incarceration records in order to prevent paying fraudulent benefits.

SACRAMENTO - With unanimous, bipartisan support, legislation to increase access to critical healthcare services has passed the Assembly’s Aging and Long-Term Care Committee. AB 540, authored by Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris, will help more seniors remain in their homes and in our communities by improving beneficiary awareness and increasing access to the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). 
 

RELEASE: Coalition Announced to Close Dangerous Ghost Gun Loophole

AB 1057 will Protect Public Safety

SACRAMENTO – To improve public safety and stem the scourge of gun violence in California, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris has introduced AB 1057, which will allow for the seizure of ghost guns when an emergency Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO) is served. By closing this loophole in the current law, law enforcement will be able to confiscate these untraceable, handmade guns in addition to traditional licensed firearms when a person is deemed by the court to be a threat to themselves or others.

SACRAMENTO — The Golden State Innovation Act has garnered a broad coalition of support since its introduction on February 11, 2021. Patient-advocacy groups, life sciences companies and 28 California Legislators have joined in support of Assembly Bill 593. This bill will restore the Research and Development (R&D) Tax Credit and Net Operating Loss (NOL) deductions for Life Sciences companies in California, at a pivotal point in the state’s pandemic response and recovery.
