SACRAMENTO – Across the state, noise pollution from loud vehicles has become a significant problem in local communities. According to observations by law enforcement, this noise pollution is often caused by custom-made or aftermarket equipment that modifies vehicle exhausts to exceed noise limits set by state law. Noise pollution has been associated with short-term health impacts, like stress and discomfort.

IRVINE – On Saturday, September 10, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris along with the Orange County Fire Authority hosted a Community Coffee at Fire Station 36 in Irvine. The Assemblywoman presented to the constituents about her priorities which include making neighborhoods safer, improving schools, protecting the environment and helping local veterans and small businesses.

SANTA ANA – California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer today announced the filing of misdemeanor charges against Amplify Energy, Beta Operating Company, and San Pedro Bay Pipeline (collectively, “Amplify”) for discharging approximately 25,000 gallons of petroleum from an underwater pipeline off the coast of Huntington Beach in October 2021.

IRVINE – On Thursday, September 9, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris and the Contractors State License Board hosted the Senior Scam Stopper Seminar at the Rancho Senior Center. The event was attended by 70 seniors who learned how to protect themselves from fraud and scams concerning home improvement, auto repair, insurance, telemarketing and real estate.

SACRAMENTO – Recent actions surrounding Roe v. Wade and the Supreme Court have put more than 36 million Americans at risk of losing access to abortion care. In addition to the larger trend towards states removing abortion protections, California could see an increase in out-of-state patients from “46,000 to 1.4 million - a nearly 3,000 percent increase,” as reported in the Future of Abortion Council (FAB) December report.

NEWPORT BEACH- Studio C Florals has been honored by Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris as the Local Business Spotlight for August. It is a woman owned small business that started in 2014. Crystal Schachter, owner and designer creates floral designs for any occasion including bridal bouquets, weddings, and private dinner parties.

SACRAMENTO – Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Irvine) presented Assembly House Resolution 121 to proclaim the week of August 29, 2022 as Overdose Awareness Week in California, a week to recognize and commemorate individuals who have lost their lives to overdose, as well as supporting families and those struggling with substance use disorder. The resolution passed the State Assembly. Advocates and organizations will be taking action by sharing statistics and personal stories to shine a light on the issue that is destroying lives and communities with a single pill.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — On Saturday, August 13, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris along with OC Coastkeeper hosted a beach cleanup at the Huntington Beach State Park. The event saw a large turnout of 190 volunteers who quickly geared up and spread out across the coast to collect trash. Nearly 200 pounds of trash ranging from bags, bottles, cigarettes and other micro plastics.

NEWPORT BEACH — Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris honored Rose Bakery Café in Corona Del Mar as the restaurant spotlight for this month. Rose Bakery Café is a favorite among many Newport Beach residents and its popularity even extends out of state as many people come and enjoy dining there during their summer vacation.

Santa Ana, Calif. (July 21, 2022) The Orange County Board of Supervisors announced today that the County of Orange was awarded $10 million in state funding to continue delivering mental health services, support and resources for children in crisis and their family members. The Board has prioritized the transformation of Orange County’s approach to behavioral health through the “Be Well Orange County” initiative, a coalition between the County and behavioral health stakeholders in the private and public sectors.
