Irvine, CA – Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris and the Irvine Police Department have announced the launch of the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), a cutting-edge initiative designed to enhance public safety through the integration of advanced technology. The RTCC will enable officers, crime analysts, and dispatchers to gather and share critical information in real time, leveraging technology to apprehend offenders, prevent crime, and improve officer safety.
“As one of the safest cities in America, it’s vital for the Irvine Police Department to have access to the best tools and technologies to prevent crime and ensure community safety,” said Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Irvine). “I’m proud to have secured $2 million in state budget funding to establish this state-of-the-art Real-Time Crime Center. This investment will enhance public safety, improve officer safety, and maintain Irvine’s reputation as a safe and thriving city.”
The Real Time Crime Center offers numerous benefits to law enforcement and the community. Across the nation, many law enforcement agencies have adopted or are in the process of implementing RTCCs. According to the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs, these centers enable law enforcement to leverage a range of technologies for more efficient and effective policing.
The RTCC integrates multiple sources of information into a unified platform, allowing analysts to respond to public safety needs more effectively. By consolidating data from various technologies, the center will support the Irvine Police Department in protect public safety for those who live, work, and visit Irvine.
