SACRAMENTO -- Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Irvine), released the following statement today:
“I’m pleased by the actions taken on the Assembly Floor this morning to set a hearing next week to consider bills addressing the proliferation of Fentanyl in our communities. My colleagues and I are working to treat this crisis with the urgency it requires. These bills deserve a hearing so that they may continue to proceed along the legislative process.
My Assembly Bill 955 strengthens the penalties for trafficking fentanyl online. While I don’t take enhancing sentences lightly, we must do something. We cannot just sit by while fentanyl traffickers kill our children and ravage our communities. I urge my colleagues to support moving these initiatives forward.”
