Free household waste and shredding event in Costa Mesa!

Dear Neighbor,

Do you have bulky household items you need to throw away or important documents to shred? Bring your household waste and documents to Estancia High School in Costa Mesa on Saturday, May 18 from 8-11 a.m. (or until intake capacity is reached).

Caltrans staff will be on-site to shred up to four boxes of your documents securely, as well as collect household items that are too bulky for residential garbage bins, such as mattresses, furniture, toys, and e-waste.

You can dispose all those items and shred important documents at no charge. All Orange County residents are welcome. No RSVP required.

The following items will NOT be accepted at this event:

  • Hazardous materials (batteries, paints, oils, chemicals, pesticides, smoke detectors, fluorescent lights, etc.)
  • Concrete, dirt, rocks, brick, asphalt, or sand
  • Treated wood
  • Tires
  • Hanging file folders, accordion folders, 3-ring binders, CDs, or x-rays
