State lawmakers are furious at the delays and notably unimpressed by Newsom’s repair list. They’re receiving complaint calls from fed-up applicants and are getting the brushoff treatment from the Employment Development Department at the center of the mess. After Newsom announced his fix-it plan Wednesday, Assemblyman David Chiu, a San Francisco Democrat, said, “Unfortunately, this only scratches the surface of the disaster that is EDD.” Added Cottie Petrie-Norris, an Irvine Democrat, “We’re done being patient.”
