Official Oversight Hearing on Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities in Costa Mesa -- WEDNESDAY
Dear Neighbors:
I would like to cordially invite you to an oversight hearing discussing the regulation of the substance abuse treatment facility industry, tomorrow, Wednesday, October 30th in Costa Mesa.
There have been many strides made in rehabilitation care over the past few years, including the codification of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act and the Affordable Care Act. Unfortunately, the expanded coverage of care, in conjunction with our nation’s ongoing opioid and substance crisis, has created an environment ripe for fraud and exploitation in the substance abuse treatment industry.
My aim with this hearing is to shed light on the issues and challenges related to regulating the substance abuse treatment industry in California. A number of industry-experts will share their expertise in addiction recovery, discuss the ways in which substance abuse treatment can and should be incorporated into mainstream care, and also add additional law enforcement perspectives.
I would like to encourage you to attend, provide feedback and recommendations – it is important that the community have a stake in this critical issue.
