Nonprofit of the Year

Trellis - 2023 Nonprofit of the Year

AD73 non profit of the yearEach year, I have the opportunity to honor nonprofit organizations for the essential work they do for Orange County residents as part of California Nonprofits Day (June 7). The services that nonprofit organizations provide have become more essential than ever. Nonprofits have shown incredible compassion for our most vulnerable residents by providing services like meal delivery, health care services, youth services, affordable housing and homeless services, just to name a few.

This year, we received many outstanding nominations for our Nonprofit of the Year. I am so grateful for all of the organizations nominated this year, and the work they do to serve our residents in Costa Mesa, Irvine, and Tustin.

I am excited to recognize Trellis as the 2023 Nonprofit of the Year for the 73rd Assembly District! Trellis is a team of leaders and catalysts passionate about stimulating, encouraging, and supporting cities to facilitate collaboration that resolves their spiritual, relational and practical challenges.

Together with its partners, Trellis has launched the Love Costa Mesa initiative to address:

  • Specific practical challenges such as homelessness, food insecurity and elderly isolation.
  • Educational challenges and impact on the next generation.
  • The breakdown of good neighboring values throughout the city.
  • The lack of hope, loneliness and desperation that can exist in a city.

On May 20, I joined Trellis and hundreds of volunteers for Love Costa Mesa Day, an annual citywide volunteer event serving the homeless, providing practical needs to vulnerable individuals, and beautifying local parks and schools, among many other community service projects. We hosted a successful River Channel Cleanup and Household Waste event on Love Costa Mesa Day.

We are so proud to have a wonderful partner serving as a catalyst for collaboration with faith-based organizations, cities, community-based organizations, businesses, and educators to address our most challenging issues and helping build resilient communities. Learn more about Trellis and their initiatives in Costa Mesa and throughout Orange County.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you need assistance with state-related issues.
