Is the DMV taking its sweet time with your
vehicle registration renewal?
The Orange County Register has reported that it could take more than four weeks for the DMV to open your registration renewal envelope. That’s simply unacceptable. There’s no excuse for the terrible customer service and we are pushing them hard to solve these issues.
I want to remind you that my office is here to help you with this and other issues.
There are a couple of ways to get faster service from the DMV:
Self-Service Kiosks
- Self-Service Terminals (SSTs) are located at selected field offices and retail locations to improve convenience of DMV services.
- All SSTs accept cash, credit and debit cards for payment.
- Find Orange County locations with this interactive map.
The Automobile Club of Southern California (AAA)
- The AAA provides a number of popular DMV services for its card-carrying Members.
- No appointment is needed and they accept cash or checks payable to the DMV.
- The services they offer include: registration renewal, duplicate registration and stickers, driver’s license change of address, and used vehicle transfer of ownership.
- Find Orange County locations with this interactive map.
DMV Online Services Website
- By going to the DMV website you can skip the line and renew your auto-registration, renew a driver license or identification card, and change your address.
As Chair of the Accountability and Administrative Review Committee, I take the responsibility of holding Government accountable quite seriously. Last month I co-chaired an oversight hearing where we questioned DMV officials regarding field office wait times. We will continue pushing the DMV until these issues are resolved.
As your State Representative, I am here to help. If you encounter any problems with the DMV or another State Agency, do not hesitate to contact my District Office at (949) 251-0074.
Yours faithfully,
