Welcome to "Catching Up With Cottie" - a weekly update about what I am working on as your representative in the California State Assembly.

AD73 happy holidays

I wish you and your families, friends, and loved ones a joyful and peaceful holiday season. As the year comes to a close, I hope you have the chance to reflect on the moments that brought happiness and growth while cherishing time with those who matter most. May this season bring warmth, love, and new memories to carry into the year ahead. From my family to yours, Happy Holidays and have a wonderful New Year!

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I am committed to addressing the issues that are important to you. As always, if there is anything that my team or I can do to assist you with a local or state issue, if you have questions or concerns about what I am working on, or anything in between, please contact my office. My team and I are here to help!

Yours faithfully,

AD73 Annual New Coats for Kids Drive

I was proud to support Supervisor Katrina Foley's Annual New Coats for Kids Drive—a wonderful initiative to help keep children across the 5th District warm and cozy this holiday season!

AD73 capitol and district staff

Each holiday season, I gather with my incredible team from the Capitol and the District to celebrate, reflect on the year, and express my gratitude. This talented and compassionate group works tirelessly to create meaningful change in our community, and I'm inspired by their dedication every day.

As we look back on all we've accomplished in 2024, I'm reminded of the power of teamwork and shared purpose. I'm excited for the opportunities ahead and can't wait to continue our important work together in 2025!

For Irvine residents, Waste Management will collect and recycle Christmas trees for three weeks after Christmas on your regular collection day. Trees taller than 4 feet must be cut in half and all decorations (tinsel, lights, ornaments and tree stands) must be removed. Place the tree curbside.

For Costa Mesa residents, Christmas tree collection will occur from January 2 - 16, 2024. Trees will be collected on your weekly trash collection day. Note: trash collection will be delayed by 1 day during the weeks of Christmas and New Year's Day. Trees must be completely bare to be eligible for collection and recycling.

  • Remove all ornaments, lights, tinsel and the tree stand.
  • Do not bag trees in plastic.
  • Trees taller than 6 feet must be cut in half.
  • Flocked trees cannot be recycled; therefore they must be placed in the Mixed Waste Cart.

For Tustin residents, Christmas tree recycling will occur annually for the full two weeks following December 25th. For more information about CR&R and their services, visit their website.
