Welcome to "Catching Up With Cottie" - a weekly update about what I am working on as your representative in the California State Assembly.
I had the incredible honor of being sworn in for my fourth term as your representative in the California State Assembly. Serving the residents of the 73rd Assembly District is both a privilege and a responsibility I deeply cherish. Thank you for the trust you have placed in me to help address our state's most pressing needs. Together, we will advance policies that protect our environment, build a reliable and affordable green economy, strengthen public safety, and deliver tangible results that make a real difference for our communities and our state.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I am committed to addressing the issues that are important to you. As always, if there is anything that my team or I can do to assist you with a local or state issue, if you have questions or concerns about what I am working on, or anything in between, please contact my office. My team and I are here to help!
Yours faithfully,
Cottie Petrie-Norris
California State Assemblywoman
My office is now accepting applications for our inaugural Young Legislators Program which offers up to 15 students qualified high school juniors or seniors in the 73rd Assembly District a front row seat to the public policy arena. During the six month program, students will learn to become better advocates on issues they care about, gain valuable leadership skills and consider future careers in the public and private sector, all free of cost. I was honored to join law students from If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice at the UCI School of Law for an informative discussion about reproductive rights in California and across the U.S. I highlighted my work in the Assembly, including AB 1918, which established California's Reproductive Health Service Corps to expand and train our healthcare workforce, and AB 571, which prohibits insurers from penalizing providers for offering abortion services. These efforts aim to ensure women have access to the care they need across our state.
