Welcome to "Catching Up With Cottie" - a weekly update about what I am working on as your representative in the California State Assembly.
I was thrilled to join the City of Irvine for the Grand Opening of the universal playground at Sweet Shade Neighborhood Park. This is Irvine's first universal playground, where children of all ages can come together to play, learn, and explore! I'm especially proud to have secured $2.8 million in the state budget to help bring this project to life. This investment reflects my commitment to creating spaces where every child can thrive, while fostering a love for learning and promoting accessibility.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I am committed to addressing the issues that are important to you. As always, if there is anything that my team or I can do to assist you with a local or state issue, if you have questions or concerns about what I am working on, or anything in between, please contact my office. My team and I are here to help!
Yours faithfully,
Cottie Petrie-Norris
California State Assemblywoman
I joined the California Chamber of Commerce 2024 Public Policy Forum where I spoke on a panel on the future of clean energy. This is a pivotal time for California and as Chair of the Assembly's Utilities and Energy Committee, I am working to accelerate California's clean energy future and build a reliable, sustainable and affordable green economy.
Thank you to Girls Inc. of Orange County for inviting me to the annual College Bound luncheon to empower our young women in their collegiate pursuits! Girls Inc. is an incredible partner, and I'm so proud of the work they do. Earlier this year, we co-hosted the highly successful IgniteHer Girls Summit, an event that brought together over 150 girls for a day of empowerment, inspiration, and growth. It's truly inspiring to see these young leaders realize their full potential! I am already looking forward to next year's summit.
Supervisor Katrina Foley and I had a great time joining Billy Fried on KX104.7! We shared stories from our journeys in politics, discussed our longstanding friendship, and highlighted some of the projects we're currently working on. We also got to share a few of our favorite inspirational songs, making it a fun and meaningful conversation. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community. Thanks to Billy and KX104.7 for having us!
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I am honored to host my first annual Turkey Giveaway to help support our community and celebrate the holidays! This is a free event open to community members in the 73rd Assembly District, from Costa Mesa, Irvine and Tustin. Registration is required. Registrant must be present to pick up turkey and food bag.
