Welcome to "Catching Up With Cottie" - a weekly update about what I am working on as your representative in the California State Assembly.
I want to start by thanking you for all of the birthday wishes. I enjoyed celebrating with my team, colleagues, family, and friends. Shout out to Assemblymembers Pellerin and Addis who hosted a birthday bash for me & the Assembly's summer babies. As I begin my fiftieth trip around the sun, I am so grateful - my heart is full and I feel truly blessed.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I am committed to addressing the issues that are important to you. As always, if there is anything that my team or I can do to assist you with a local or state issue, if you have questions or concerns about what I am working on, or anything in between, please contact my office. My team and I are here to help!
Yours faithfully,
Cottie Petrie-Norris
California State Assemblywoman
It's hard to believe that back-to-school season is already here! I hope everyone enjoyed a fantastic summer break and feels ready to take on the challenges of the new school year. I'm thrilled to share that our 2nd annual Tustin School Supply Drive was a tremendous success! Together, we collected 2,000 backpacks with schools supplies for elementary school students in the Tustin Unified School District, ensuring that every child is equipped with the tools they need to thrive this school year. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our incredible partners: Orange County United Way, Pacific Life, Rotary Club of Tustin-Santa Ana, and the Tustin Area Woman's Club. Your support made this possible!
This week, I was honored to join California State Association of Electrical Workers' Annual Conference! I deeply appreciate your expertise and our invaluable partnership. Your dedication to maintaining our energy grid, often working around the clock and in hazardous conditions, ensures we have access to safe and reliable energy. Your commitment does not go unnoticed. Thank you!
I had a great meeting with the California Bankers Association to discuss the key opportunities and challenges in our state's banking sector. Their dedication plays a vital role in driving California's economic growth and supporting the success of businesses of all sizes.
In the district, I was thrilled to join Share Ourselves to mark National Health Center Week and celebrate the grand opening of BESST Center! This newly renovated space will serve children and families in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District area with comprehensive health services that many families struggle to have access locally. Thank you to Share Ourselves for everything you do to serve and support our community!
I had an incredible experience at the California Asian Chamber of Commerce/National ACE 7th Annual Minority Women Lead Pitch Competition at UC Irvine! A huge congratulations to Rooted Fare for taking first place, and to all the amazing winners who showcased their talent, innovation and passion!
Team Cottie had an amazing time at National Night Out in Costa Mesa and Irvine! Huge thanks to Costa Mesa and Irvine police for bringing our communities together, building relationships, and keeping our neighborhoods safe!
