Welcome to "Catching Up With Cottie" - a weekly update about what I am working on as your representative in the California State Assembly.

June is Pride Month, a time not only to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, but also an opportunity to reflect on this community's struggles and the progress we've made as a country to ensure equal rights and to prevent discrimination. Diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and together, we will continue to build on decades of progress to create an inclusive, safe, future for all. Happy Pride Month!

My team and I are here to help!

AD73 7th Annual Capitol Cup

This week, I played in the 7th Annual Capitol Cup, the Legislature's annual soccer game! It was a great game benefitting a cause that I deeply care about. All proceeds went to support CASA Sacramento's work to support children in the foster care system.

AD73 California Heat Pump Partnership

I was honored to join the California Heat Pump Partnership (CAHPP) to celebrate the coalition's launch. CAHPP is a public-private partnership dedicated supporting the state's transition to a sustainable, decarbonized future. Meeting California's ambitious climate targets will require policy makers, business leaders, community organizations, and our utility providers to work together.

AD73 Animals at the Capitol Day

It was refreshing to break the routine and be surrounded by furry and scaly animal friends for a change. I had a fantastic time interacting with the rescued and rehabilitated animals at SeaWorld's "Animals at the Capitol Day!" Thank you for your commitment to the conservation of our precious environment.

AD73 Assembly Budget Committee

Given California's looming budget deficit, Thursday's Assembly Budget Committee hearing was a more difficult one. I reiterated my concerns about the proposed cuts and posed important questions regarding the strategies to steer California's economy towards recovery, growth, and expansion. As we map out our recovery, it is essential to create a business climate that encourages expansion, innovation, and job creation.
