AB 1264 Will Reduce Barriers and Expand Access to Birth Control to Address Unmet Need

SACRAMENTO – To expand access to birth control and enable providers to truly meet patients where they are, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris is authoring AB 1264 that will allow people to safely access birth control via phone apps. AB 1264 is simply seeking to clarify vague telehealth law related to safely prescribing medication. The bill was approved by the Assembly Business & Professions Committee today on a 16-0 bipartisan vote. 

State Assembly Votes to Invest in Green Infrastructure

SACRAMENTO — In a commitment to investing in Green Infrastructure along California’s coastal communities, the State Assembly unanimously approved Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris’ Assembly Bill 65 (AB 65) on Monday, April 22, 2019. Proposition 68, approved by California voters on June 5, 2018, authorizes $40 million to address coastal adaptation; and AB 65 prioritizes projects that utilize green-natural infrastructure for coastal adaptation.

California lawmakers from both major parties pushed Tuesday for a closer look at technology and security mishaps in last year’s launch of the state’s new voter registration system at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

“We have to get to the bottom of this as quickly as possible,” Assemblyman Vince Fong (R-Bakersfield) said. “We can’t tolerate mismanagement and poor leadership.”

Assembly Health Committee Approves Calderon and Petrie-Norris Bill Aimed At Empowering Female Patients During Pelvic Exams

Sacramento, CA – The Assembly Health Committee approved Assembly Bill 1030 today with bipartisan support. AB 1030 is a measure authored by Majority Leader Ian Calderon and Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris, which requires the California Medical Board and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to develop an informational pamphlet for patients undergoing a gynecological pelvic examination.
